Fad diets are designed to help people lose weight fast... Fad diets are designed to help people lose weight fast, usually not in a healthy way. Theses diets may work in the beginning, but usually fail in the long term. They typically do cause rapid weight loss, but it is difficult to sustain, and then many people on them quickly regain any weight that they lost. The temptation of fad diets for people is that they promise quick and easy weight loss. These get-slim-quick schemes tend to keep people confused and try to convince them that effective weight management is complex. Over the years, these diets have promoted consumption of some specific foods (e.g., the Cabbage Soup Diet, the Grapefruit Diet, the Drinking Man's Diet), specific combinations of foods (e.g. the Zone) and sometimes specific times that foods must be eaten (e.g., the Rotation Diet). Fad diets often claim to be backed by scientific evidence , and always have over-enthusiastic testimonials to support them. If you look beyond those claims you will find them misleading and sometimes, nothing but direct lies or thinly veiled mistrusts. Whether restricting carbohydrates, restricting fat grams, or restricting calories, fad diets tend to provide temporary weight loss. Often working in the short term (anything that flushes excess water out of your system will drop your weight, at least temporarily, by up to ten pounds). Fad diets will only waste your time and patience and have you eating things that you do not want to eat. Copyright © 2008 fad-diets.org Disclaimer: content is not medical advice!
